To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor - get ready for the Instructor Development Course (IDC)!

Divers always remember their Instructors even from their first Discover Scuba Diving. They are people who have spent time to teach us, develop our abilities and keep us safe and they have made all this fun and interesting.

With all that being said, why wouldn’t anyone want to become an Instructor? Instructors are people of the world. They learn to respect the environment, the marine life; they learn to balance between the underwater and the ‘overwater’.

But no candidate really knows what to expect before starting the IDC. The simplest explanation is it’s preparation to develop students from Divemasters to Instructors. It’s a fun and very organised experience that includes theory and practise to bring PADI Divemasters to a teaching status, to give the the ability to transmit the already acquired knowledge to their student. An IDC candidate will learn how to explain mistakes in knowledge reviews and theory, how to identify and correct problems during their courses, how to teach each aspect of a course, but also the procedures to follow before, during and after the courses. But it is not only about learning. It’s about teamwork and fun and experience, because diving is a team sport, a buddy sport. And the IDC candidates learn also how to communicate and have fun while learning, as they did from their first course. And then they are ready for the final examination. The IE. Two days in which they can show what they have already learned. Nothing to be worried about, because the IDC has prepared them for it!

For anybody thinking to Go PRO, educational materials needed for the IDC are available to purchase, independently of the course, at our KK Dive Shop.
